Most Powerful Female Comic Villains Ranked

Girls Get It Done

In the comic book world, there are plenty of villainous women who give the main characters a run for their money. Powers don’t discriminate, and some of these ladies are straight-up terrifying. If you’ve ever wondered who the strongest of the bunch is, this list ranks these villains from decent to strongest.

20. Catwoman

To start the list, let’s set a baseline for power level. Catwoman serves as a great example of a decent, but not all-that-strong villain. While she’s an expert thief and very crafty, her lack of powers means she often has to rely on her manipulation skills. Luckily, she has one of the world’s most powerful heroes wrapped around her finger.

19. Amanda Waller

Amanda Waller is a government agent who is able to go much further than others. For instance, she created Task Force X, and much like Batman, she keeps tabs on other heroes and has contingency plans in mind. Despite her lack of powers, her intelligence and ruthlessness make her quite formidable.

18. Harley Quinn

Unlike Catwoman, Harley has the benefit of the crazy factor. She can take a punch or two, or several, and dish it out just as easily. Her background in gymnastics and her chaotic fighting style makes her unpredictable and quite scary.

Plus, she isn’t afraid to go to extremes to win a fight.

17. Mystique

Mystique is a favorite for many people. With the ability to change her appearance and shapeshift into whoever she pleases, she has easily infiltrated her way into many secret societies. This makes her quite dangerous, as you never know how close your enemy could be.

16. Cheetah

While the powers of a cheetah don’t sound all that impressive, Minerva takes it much further by harnessing strength, speed, and agility that rivals demigods like Wonder Woman. Her obsession and ferocity also mean she’s willing to go as far as it takes.

15. Poison Ivy

Pamela, on the other hand, doesn’t rely on brute strength to get things done. Instead, she has dominion over all plants and can even mind-control people with her pheromones. In some iterations, she even managed to take control of Superman. These abilities make her one of the most dangerous villains out there.

14. Enchantress

While the movies never did Enchantress justice, in reality, she is one of the most powerful sorceresses around. She has the ability to control minds, teleport where she pleases, and manipulate energies. Similar to Scarlet Witch, she’s quite a threat due to her reality-altering capabilities.

13. Emma Frost

When she’s not helping the good guys, Emma Frost is usually an agent for evil. With her iconic diamond-hard skin and her ability to use telepathy to get her way, she is both physically and mentally adept.

12. Star Sapphire

Carol Ferris is the antithesis to Hal Jordan’s Green Lantern. At first, the two were a couple, but Ferris was corrupted by the power of the violet ring and was transformed into the Star Sapphire. Now she has all the abilities of a Lantern, and driven by her harsh emotions, she is quite a threat.

11. Morgan Le Fay

One of the original sorceresses, Morgan Le Fay is an Arthurian legend come to life. Not only is she immortal, but she is also able to manipulate time, sending heroes for quite the loop. She first appeared in Black Knight #1 and was a co-creation of Stan Lee and Joe Maneely.

10. Granny Goodness

If Darkseid is the big bad of the DC universe, then Granny Goodness is his right-hand woman. She is a fierce warrior equipped with super strength and the ability to brainwash the unfortunate souls that end up on her home planet Apokolips.

9. Maxima

Maxima has a strange reason for being on Earth, as she is driven by her search for a perfect mate. Which often means she’s going toe-to-toe with the greatest heroes to test their strength. Unfortunately for those heroes, she’s quite a force, as she possesses super strength, telekinesis, and even telepathy. Even Superman struggled to keep up.

8. Circe

Based on the Greek goddess with the same name, Circe has been a thorn in Wonder Woman’s side for a while. Not only does she have the ability to turn those who annoy her into animals, but she is a goddess with a vast magical arsenal and a good helping of immortality too.

7. Faora Hu-Ul

Many believe Faora to be one of the most powerful Kryptonians around. Not only has she honed her strength, speed, and vision abilities, but she was also trained as a military woman, which means she can often outmatch Superman.

6. Cythonna

However, when it comes to powerful Kryptonians, Cythonna takes the cake. She, in fact, is a goddess of Krypton and so is far more powerful than any other. Equipped with strength, invulnerability, and the ability to manipulate temperatures, she’s one force few can beat.

Hela is another character created by the esteemed Stan Lee and Jack Kirby. A Norse goddess of death, she was able to harness armies from the beyond and use her skills in necromancy to rival for dominion over the world.

4. Scarlet Witch

In recent years, Marvel has solidified Scarlet Witch through their cinematic universe. While she was never too powerful in the comics, her recent iteration has the ability to manipulate reality itself.

3. Dark Phoenix

Most avid comic readers know the strongest mainstream hero in Marvel Comics is undoubtedly Jean Grey. Originally, this X-Men had telepathic and telekinetic abilities. But after merging with an evil cosmic entity known as the Dark Phoenix, she became powerful enough to destroy galaxies.

2. Lady Death

Hela wasn’t the only incarnation of Death in Marvel’s universe. In fact, many consider Lady Death the most powerful being around. Not only is she immortal and able to shape reality, but she rules over the concept of death, so there’s really no way of taking her out.

1. Perpetua

The only thing more powerful than dominion over death is dominion over life. That’s exactly what Perpetua is, as she is the mother of the DC multiverse. Not only did she create it, but she continues to harness immense cosmic energy to keep control over worlds. Too bad she’s not exactly a force for good.
