With the announcement of the Switch 2, many fans are already speculating about all the new games coming to the console. From confirmed additions to fan favorites, here are 20 games we can't wait to see on the Switch 2.

1. Animal Crossing

One of the most popular cozy games on the Nintendo Switch has to be Animal Crossing. With the release of the Switch 2, most people have been wondering if their favorite games will be ported or remastered. Animal Crossing has not officially been confirmed yet, but that doesn’t mean the fans aren’t giddy with excitement and anticipation.

2. The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past HD

With the original Nintendo Switch holding titles like Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom, fans expect nothing but the best when it comes to The Legend of Zelda franchise. One of the most requested and wanted remakes or remasters has been A Link to the Past HD. There are so many great games to choose from when it comes to Zelda games, and with it being one of Nintendo’s pillars, it’s all but certain to happen.

3. Mario Maker 3

Mario Maker 3 is one of the most anticipated games for the Switch 2. Fans have long yearned for this platformer maker, especially with the expected specs that the Switch 2 brings to the table. Given that Super Mario Bros. has brought Nintendo immense fame and is one of the most popular and well-known games around the world, Mario Maker 3 might be just around the corner.

4. A New Pokémon Legends Game

There have been a number of Pokémon games over the years, and most of them have already gotten a re-release or a remake of some sort. With the most recent Scarlet and Violet being widely critiqued for being rushed to release and not being up to the standards of a new Pokémon game, Nintendo has to redeem itself when it comes to this franchise. Particularly, generations two and five have been the most popular contenders when it comes to a new Legends game.

5. Fallout 4

Fallout 4 has been wildly popular amongst gamers, and for good reason. From fully voiced protagonists that make the player feel more immersed in the world, to incredibly diverse and rich open-world post-apocalyptic gameplay, there’s no lack of fun, danger, or excitement. With the release of the Switch 2, many fans of this game are hoping they will be able to play Fallout 4 on their new Switch console.

6. Final Fantasy 7

One of the most popular Final Fantasy games, Final Fantasy 7 has been a game that was originally supposed to be a Nintendo game. With the delays and technical difficulties that the Nintendo 64 faced, the makers of Final Fantasy 7 decided to move it to the PlayStation instead. The release of the Switch 2 might just be the time Final Fantasy 7 finally gets to be enjoyed on this console.

7. Xenoblade Chronicles X

An absolute gem of the Nintendo Wii U era, Xenoblade Chronicles X is a game many fans have been wanting to see remastered or re-released for the Switch 2. From the vast and beautiful open world to the gorgeous and captivating graphics, this game will have you playing it for hours on end. With the original Nintendo Switch getting a remaster, Xenoblade Chronicles: Definitive Edition, it isn’t too far-fetched that the Switch 2 might get its own Xenoblade.

8. Bayonetta 4

Bayonetta 4 has been eagerly anticipated by the fans of this franchise since the release of Bayonetta 3. The game itself is incredibly action-packed and is one of the most well-rated games of its genre. While that might be the case, fans are worried when it comes to the release date, as Bayonetta 3 took five years to be released after being announced.

9. Astral Chain

A combination of exciting action-packed gameplay and stunning visuals and effects, Astral Chain has received high ratings since its release in 2019. Being developed by some of the same people that made the Devil May Cry and Bayonetta games, Astral Chain has been destined to be a fan-favorite game. With the early look into the Switch 2 specs and graphics, fans have been excited to see their favorite action-adventure game in even better lighting.

10. Cyberpunk 2077

One of the most popular and well-known games around the world, Cyberpunk 2077 has been played and replayed since its release. With it being available for almost every other console and platform other than the Switch, fans have been hoping and praying that the Switch 2 brings this title to its arsenal. As one of the most popular games worldwide, it seems highly likely we will be seeing it on the new Switch.

11. Tomodachi Life

The Nintendo 3DS era holds some of the most beloved and fondly remembered games amongst Nintendo console fans. One of those games stands out as the most anticipated out there, and that is Tomodachi Life. With the rising popularity of games like The Sims 4 and inZOI, a new Tomodachi Life for the Switch 2 might be a great competitor in this genre.

12. Ōkami Sequel

Ōkami is one of the gems of the past when it comes to video games across all platforms. The game uses Japanese folklore and mythology to tell a story of the goddess Amaterasu saving the land from darkness. With the Ōkami Sequel Project teaser being released in December of 2024, it doesn’t seem unlikely that we will be getting it on the Switch 2.

13. Dragon Quest XII: The Flames of Fate

While it was confirmed that Dragon Quest XII is in development, fans have been wondering if it will be available on the Switch 2. Although information about the game’s progress and updates is shared fairly regularly, it still has not been confirmed if the game will be available on the new Switch. While it does seem likely, all that the loyal fans of this game can do for now is wait and hope.

14. Mega Man

A new Mega Man game would be an amazing start to the Switch 2 era, according to many fans. With the latest of the franchise games being released in 2018 for the Nintendo Switch, Mega Man is due for an upgrade. While nothing has been confirmed just yet, players have been hopeful that a new Switch 2 era marks a new Mega Man era as well.

15. Devil May Cry

Devil May Cry is an action-packed game with incredible graphics and an even better story. It has been one of the most well-reviewed and replay-heavy games out there, but has only been available on the Nintendo Switch as remasters in 2019. The release of the Switch 2 has gotten lots of fans hopeful that we could potentially see some DMC on the Switch 2, or even newer releases being made for it.

16. Halo: The Master Chief Collection

Halo is one of the most popular shooter games in the world, and it has never been available on the Switch. With the game being as well-liked and popular as it is, it seems like Nintendo is missing out on not having it available on their system. Hardcore fans are hoping that with the release of the Switch 2, Halo might get The Master Chief Collection ready to be played on this new console.

17. Alan Wake 2

Another well-anticipated game is Alan Wake 2, which has sadly not seen its Nintendo Switch debut. If you are a fan of survival horror games, you are most likely very hopeful that Alan Wake 2 gets released along with the Switch 2. Given that the game was originally released in 2023, it doesn’t seem too far-fetched that Alan Wake 3 could be in the works for the Switch 2.

18. Metroid Prime 4

While Metroid Prime 4 has been confirmed for the Switch 2, fans have been worried if the game will be up to their standards. Scheduled to release sometime in 2025, players are excited to see it run on the new console with all the upgraded specs and graphics. Better replay the previous games in preparation for Metroid Prime 4.

19. Kirby: Planet Robobot

Kirby: Planet Robobot has been long anticipated amongst the fans as a remastered version for the Switch 2. Last seen for the Nintendo 3DS, this game has had longtime fans grab their old console just to replay it again. Although it was not confirmed or even mentioned by Nintendo, fans are hopeful to see a new or remastered Kirby game on the Switch 2.

20. Mario Kart 9

Being one of the most popular and fan-favorite games around the world, Mario Kart is all but guaranteed to get another game on the Switch 2. While not confirmed, the track record of older Mario Kart games seems to indicate that a new one is coming with the new console. Regardless, fans are extremely excited and at the edge of their seats for Mario Kart 9.
