Love at First Read

It doesn’t matter what people say; some of these superheroes hit differently. Whether it be Black Cat’s sultry nature or the fact that Thor could bench press a house, there are plenty of reasons to fall head over heels. Keeping in mind that these characters are, unfortunately, fictional, here are the 20 most popular superhero crushes for men and women.

1. Harley Quinn

Whether it was Margot Robbie that solidified the character’s appeal, or even the earlier antics from Batman: The Animated Series, Harley Quinn has amassed quite a cult following. Sure, she’s pretty and quite nimble with her gymnastic background. But it’s the crazy factor that catches the most eyes.

2. Nightwing

The quintessential hottest man in comic book history is undeniably Grayson. So many controversies have stemmed from his spandex, it’s hard to deny the reputation he has as the fun-loving gymnast with the charming smile. There must be something about these acrobats that gives them an edge.

3. Black Cat/ Catwoman

Speaking of acrobats, both Black Cat and Catwoman are known for their more-than-capable gymnastic abilities. Flexible, fast, and daring, these women live on the edge. Besides, they’re so similar that if you like one, you probably like the other, so it’s safe to put them at the same point. Additionally, portrayals from Anne Hathaway, Michelle Pfeiffer, and Zoe Kravitz only solidified Selina’s appeal.

4. Bruce Wayne

If you like Nightwing, you’ll probably like Batman too, as he’s the older and more refined version of Grayson. The mentor is known for his brooding attitude and undeniable physique, and the fact that he has billions of dollars to spare only makes it better. Have you noticed that the top four contenders are all from Batman’s universe?

5. Kitty Pryde

Taking a turn back to Marvel, many fans fell in love when Kitty Pryde showed up in the X-Men comics. This sweet and occasionally naïve character is capable of walking through the walls of your heart—and other physical walls too. You might have to fight Colossus to get your chance with her, though.

6. Nightcrawler

We’re about to spend some time in the X-Men universe now, if you can’t tell. The character might not seem like the most conventionally attractive person, but you’d be wrong. He’s built pretty darn strong, and not every woman wants the biggest guy. He’s quite mysterious, and his playful nature makes him all the more fun.

7. Emma Frost

If you don’t mind a strong and independent woman who might just take control of your entire life, then Emma Frost is the pick for you. Aside from that, she’s strikingly beautiful, and you won’t have to get her any diamonds since she can all too easily turn into a diamond herself.

8. Marko, Saga

Plenty of folks found their hearts stolen by Marko, a character from Saga. Not only is he a protective dad and a loyal husband, but his cleverness and combat skills make him a trusty partner. Plus, the horns are a cool touch.

9. Poison Ivy

Pamela is undeniably beautiful. Somehow the green-tinted skin works, and her fierce attitude and sultry habits only make her all the more alluring. Just make sure you’ve never hurt a plant in your life, or else she can turn quite cold quite fast.

10. Gambit

This character’s charm is all too apparent. He’s a bit of a heartbreaker, but who can blame him? With the fun accent and the card tricks, he’s just a very suave guy. Not only does the trench coat add to the allure, but his intellect wraps up the package.

11. Starfire

Starfire captured a lot of hearts, especially when the Teen Titans cartoon was airing. Not only is she a fun-loving alien, but her costume definitely adds to the look. She starts off not knowing too much about human culture, and watching the world from her eyes makes it all too easy to fall in love.

12. Winter Solider

Plenty of people were falling head over heels for Steve Rogers when the MCU came roaring in, but real fans know Bucky is where it’s at. He’s a bit rugged, a bit grim, and brooding. But he’s still got a heart of gold.

13. Death

We’re specifically talking about Death from The Sandman series here. Many people quickly fell in love with her when she appeared in the comics. Who knew Death could be a cute punk girl with a grunge hairstyle and a kind heart?

14. Clark Kent

If you’re into the upstanding Boy Scout type, then Clark is undoubtedly the kindest and most noble person in the comic universe. Despite all of his powers, he’s very down-to-earth, meaning you get both a grounded farmer type and a cultured alien.

15. Power Girl

It’s pretty obvious why this character is on the list. But aside from her generous looks, she’s got a fierce attitude and packs quite a punch. If you’re not intimidated by strong women, then Power Girl will have you feeling safe in her arms.

16. Thor

Chris Hemsworth undoubtedly turned Thor into an instant heartthrob. But even before his movie portrayals, the character was technically a Norse God. He’s a valiant warrior at heart and has that old-school Viking look that plenty of people like.

17. Zatanna

Some people say it’s the fishnets, but others realize Zatanna is the whole package. She’s fun, kind, and you’ll never be bored when you attend one of her magic shows. Her powers are also pretty cool. Maybe she can speak a house into existence for the two of you to live in.

18. Daredevil

Both Mark Waid’s interpretation of Daredevil, as well as his appearances in the Netflix show by the same name, have solidified Matthew Murdock as a heartthrob. He’s a do-good lawyer by day and a crafty acrobat at night. He’s got a noble heart and definitely knows his way around with his hands.

19. Mary Jane Watson

Mary Jane was the bubbly girl-next-door that stole both ours and Peter Parker’s heart. Despite having no powers, she has been the ideal girl for many readers. She’s bubbly and fun and matches up with her super-powered counterparts without a problem. Although many will have a hard time picking between her and Gwen Stacy.

20. Aquaman

Initially, Aquaman seemed like the geekiest character around. With his orange tights, bright green boots, and dorky blonde hair, he wasn’t much to look at. Then Jason Momoa entered the picture, and Aquaman went from a nerdy superhero who talks to fish to a barbaric king of the sea.
