20 Comic Book Characters With Overly Obvious Secret Identities

Masks Don't Hide Much

Superheroes might try to keep their double lives under wraps, but sometimes their disguises are laughably weak. Of course, these cases are often exaggerated for comedic effect, proving just how ineffective some heroes are at keeping their identity a secret. Here are 20 of the most iconic—and downright absurd—attempts at hiding in plain sight!

1. Superman

Despite being Earth's mightiest hero, Superman relies solely on glasses and slouched posture as Clark Kent's disguise. Like seriously? nobody at the Daily Planet notices their buddy's got the same muscles, height, and voice as the guy flying around saving Metropolis, or that Clark vanishes during every attack?

2. Spider-Man

The Daily Bugle's teenage photographer consistently captures impossible angles of Spider-Man in action, while professional photographers fail to get even blurry shots. Yet, of course, J. Jonah Jameson remains oblivious to Parker's perfect timing despite being obsessed with unmasking the web-slinger's true identity.

3. Batman

Among Gotham's elite, only Bruce Wayne's mansion has massive power consumption, regular equipment deliveries, and a cave system below. His injuries consistently match Batman's battles, and Wayne Enterprises exclusively supplies the Dark Knight's expensive technology. Still, citizens fail to connect these obvious dots.
