These Characters Are Stronger Than Superman?
Many of us grew up believing that Superman was basically invincible; he's the hero of our dreams, one who is always able to save the day. But as we started being introduced to more comic book characters with immense powers, suddenly, this man with the red cape didn't seem as unbeatable as he once did. Here are 20 comic book characters that many fans believe can beat Superman in a fight.
1. Wonder Woman
A true Themysciran warrior, Wonder Woman is more than capable of throwing hands against Superman if it ever came to it. Her incredible battle skills, raw power, and magical abilities give her enough strength to fight toe-to-toe against the strongest man alive. She's seriously a force to be reckoned with.
2. Doomsday
One of the few to do it in the comics, Doomsday has already proven his strength before by taking out the man in blue. In Superman #75, an iconic comic which all true DC fans will know, Doomsday and Superman took each other out in a brutal battle in Metropolis. Though Superman eventually comes back to life, the biggest shock was learning there are others out there even more powerful than him.
3. Thanos
We all know how powerful Thanos is, nearly taking control of the entire universe if it wasn't for the entire Avengers squad coming together to stop him. Even then, they nearly lost! With the power of all infinity stones in his grasp, we're almost certain this purple Titan could put up a decent fight, even possibly winning. After all, Superman is weak to magic!
4. Martian Manhunter
If you don't believe us, take it from Superman himself. Once calling him the most powerful being on Earth, it just goes to show you that this green alien is more than capable of going against the Kryptonian. Outside of already being physically strong, his multitude of superpowers from regeneration to telepathy and shape-shifting give him the upper edge.
5. Darkseid
While the fight is pretty neck and neck, most fans agree that Darkseid is more than capable of destroying Superman in battle. His physical strength alone is said to be stronger already! With his additional abilities of energy manipulation, telekinesis, and invulnerability, he's truly an opponent that even Superman shivers at.
6. Doctor Strange
While Doctor Strange can't put up a fight in the strength department, we do think it's totally possible for him to beat Superman in a battle of wits and resources. Besides, with magic being one of Superman's weaknesses, Strange totally has an advantage. Whether it's trapping him in the mirror dimension or a time loop, we just know this wizard's got something up his sleeve.

7. Superboy-Prime
According to what's been written in the comics, Superboy-prime is essentially a stronger Superman with none of his weaknesses. By that logic, doesn't that already tell us he's far stronger than Superman and could easily take him out in a fight?
8. Shazam
Shazam might have the brain of a teenager, but he's got the strength and abilities of a God. Often seen as one of the most powerful superheroes in the DC universe, he's got brute strength comparable to Superman which means if it ever came down to a fist fight, the playing ground is totally even.
9. Doctor Fate
As the most powerful magic caster in DC, don't you think it makes sense to put Doctor Fate on this list? After all, we've already got Doctor Strange and it wouldn't be fair to leave him out. While Doctor Fate wouldn't last in hand-to-hand combat, we don't think it'd take much effort for him to restrain or take down Superman with his wide range of magical abilities.

10. Captain Marvel
While most people will say the odds are in Superman's favor, we don't think you should count out Captain Marvel just yet. Once she hits Binary mode and receives an unlimited power boost, we think she's got the brains, the powers, and the strength to fight against this seemingly invincible man. She's able to move planets, for heaven's sake!
11. Professor X (Charles Xavier)
While this may be up for debate, we're of the mind that Professor X could take down Superman in a fight. He is the most powerful mutant in the MCU after all! With the ability to control minds, if he's able to enter Superman's, he's got an easy shot at beating him.
12. The Scarlet Witch
A being of immense magical power, The Scarlet Witch seems like a worthy opponent for Superman. Don't forget, she's able to find out what people's weaknesses and nightmares are by reading their minds. And once she learns Kryptonite is the key to beating him, we just know this intelligent women would use that knowledge to her advantage in a heartbeat. Tack on her ability to bend reality and it's easy to see how she's a serious threat.

13. Iron Man
You may be thinking, how could someone like Iron Man, a mortal man, beat the strongest man on Earth? While a head-to-head battle would result poorly for Tony Stark, don't count out his unbelievable wit. It's thanks to his efforts that Thanos was taken down! We know this man would find a way to get his hands on Kryptonite and build a powerful weapon that would get Superman on his knees.
14. The Silver Surfer
While both characters are incredibly strong and fast, it's safe to say The Silver Surfer overpowers Superman thanks to his sheer number of cosmic abilities. Sometimes, it takes much more than raw power to beat someone. Able to manipulate his own body so Superman's heat rays would shoot right through him, we think the Silver Surfer counters him pretty hard.

15. Hulk
But when it comes to just pure strength in a battle, who do you think would win between Hulk and Superman? Both are prized for the immense physical capabilities, meaning the fight would be a pretty close one. We're certain Superman would have trouble against a creature as aggressive, unpredictable, and full of rage as the Hulk. Reason won't work here.
16. Lex Luthor
When it comes to brilliant supervillains like Lex Luthor, he's able to beat Superman through other means of battle. Using impressive strategies and sneaky plans, Lex Luthor is considered a difficult foe despite being a normal human being (for the most part). Its his ego and insane obsession with defeating Superman that allows him to be a true contender.

17. Batman
Bruce Wayne might not be an alien from Krypton, but he sure has the brains and intelligence to come up with ways to beat one. Though Batman stands absolutely no chance in a fist fight, that was never his main strength anyway. Batman's true power comes from his cunningness and ability to outsmart his opponents - Superman included.
18. Thor
Son of Krypton, meet son of Odin. Now this is one interesting battle that we'd love to see. One has the ability to control thunder, the other has heat rays, and yet both are incredibly strong, fast, and can fly. As far as we see it, this is a pretty even match up that could go either way.
19. Green Lantern
Never underestimate a Green Lantern. Holding such incredible power, most fans believe it's totally possible for an experienced Green Lantern like Hal Jordan to defeat Superman. What matters the most here is if they have strong enough willpower to get the job done.

20. Zatanna
Once again, put some respect on the magic users' names! Zatanna is a powerful magic wielder with more than enough skill to keep Superman at bay. As long as she is able to react to Superman's incredible speed, we know she can put up with whatever else he throws her way. Basically, as long as Zatanna can cast her spells, she's good to go.
